Our Familiar Hunger
Is Out in the World!

In April, Nightwood Editions published my latest collection of poetry, Our Familiar Hunger, and I took my hungry book on the road for a wee reading tour. There were snacks, festive drinks, even Ukrainian dancing in one location. Old friends, new ones, hungry minds, big hearts, satiating poetry from fellow poets. That kind of thing.

Now, after a summer of care-taking the wild bird sanctuary, touring Western Ukraine, and letting the kids go part feral and half mad with boredom, I’m back to both teaching and taking my hungry poems on the road again. I’ll be at the Victoria Festival of Authors September 28 and 29 and the Whistler Writers Festival on October 14, 2018. Maybe I’ll see you there!

write mind ladder

Do you struggle with maintaining a writing practice, identifying markets, or moving closer to publication? Are you neck deep trying to find your way through a mess of a manuscript? Do you want to know how to take your ideas, scraps of paper, and partially finished writing projects and shape them into something you can publish?

I know how difficult it is to face both the blank page and the early drafts when what appears on the page seems far scrappier than the brilliant vision in our minds. Trust you are doing the right thing, that you are in your Write Mind. You are getting the words - and worlds - on to the page. You can work with that.

To find out how we can work together, explore Write Mind.
