I live as a resident caretaker of at a wild bird sanctuary in British Columbia. Occasionally, I host writing events and workshops on-site. More often, I facilitate workshops at writing festivals and events at other inspiring locations across Canada.
This August 11-13, 2017, I'll be part of Spoke Literary Festival in Vernon, British Columbia. The organizers have strived to make it as accessible as they can. Registration for the full weekend is only $175.00 and includes four - count 'em, 4! - workshops (feel free to mix and match genres) on the writing life - the novel, short stories, memoir, biography, playwriting, poetry, and the workshop I'll be facilitating on Narrative Therapy (what it is, and how we can benefit from it as writers).
The festival includes readings and literary socials, and features award-winning Canadian authors, such as Alix Hawley, John Lent, and Adam Lewis Schroeder. Spoke Fest takes place in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, hosted between Caetani House, a historical home that is now an arts and cultural centre, and Okanagan College, a inclusive, learner-centred college.
